Two-day literary memorial and discussion event held at Bengal Shilpalay

Bengal Shilpalay in Dhanmondi, Dhaka hosted a two-day literary event on May 15 and 16, consisting of a memorial lecture and a discussion session organised by Bengal Foundation and Kali O Kalam. The event, organised with the participation of prominent researchers, writers, and artists of the country—brought up literature, culture, social thought, and various contemporary issues.

The 'Anisuzzaman Memorial Lecture 2026' held on May 15, was dedicated to the memory of the Late Professor Anisuzzaman, one of Bangladesh’s top researchers and a lifelong educator, essayist, and thinker, who passed away on May 14, 2020. The theme of this year’s discussion was Shahitte Bangali Nari: Shekal O Ekal  and it covered topics such as the position of women in Bengali literature, their roles, and various other aspects throughout the changing times. The keynote speaker was  Afsana Begum, alongside Hamim Kamrul Haque as panelist.

On May 16, a discussion program titled Shahitte Kali O Kolomer Taan was held as part of the ‘Kali O Kalam Tarun Kobi O Lehak Puraskar 2025' organised by City Bank. Rafiqun Nabi, Sajjad Sharif, Rafi Haque, Sadia Mahjabin Imam and Sabyasachi Hazra discussed the close relationship between literature and painting, the beautiful journey of pen and brush, and various aspects of the combination of art and literature.
