Zinat Sanu Swagata has worn many hats over the years — film and television actor, model, presenter and singer. Yet, one of the lesser-known chapters of her career began when she was barely three and a half years old.

He became the “uncrowned Nawab” of Bangladeshi cinema after his iconic performance as the titular character in Nawab Sirajuddaula, directed by Khan Ataur Rahman. His deeply emotional portrayal of the doomed Nawab captivated audiences, particularly during the character’s tragic death. The role became so closely associated with Hossain that audiences everywhere began calling him the “uncrowned Nawab”.

The Federation of Bangladeshi Associations in North America (FOBANA) presented her with the honour at the Don Valley Hotel and Suites in Toronto, Canada.

Tamalika spent three decades performing with Aranyak Natyadal, appearing in several acclaimed productions and earning recognition for her stage performances. She has been living in the United States for several years.
