Poverty rates in recent years have demonstrated an impressive steady improvement in Bangladesh.

The country’s poverty rate came down at 20.5 percent while the extreme poverty rate came down at 10.5 percent in June this year.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina says the government's target is to bring down the country's poverty rate to a level less than what the USA has.
