Rab arrested a fugitive convict who was sentenced to life term imprisonment in a case filed over the murder of Biswajit Das 10 years ago.

The Supreme Court clears the way for the four accused, who were acquitted by the High Court in the sensational Biswajit murder case, to walk out of jail.

On the very day that the world was observing the International Human Rights Day in 2012, a poor man was denied the basic right guaranteed to all human beings under God—right to life. Biswajit was a victim of depraved politics, killed brutally by some members of the student wing of the ruling party.

We hope that the HC directive and DMP probe findings would serve as a wakeup call for the police administration to put its house in order that would put a stop to this sort of unprofessional and immoral behaviour that not only maligns the name of the force but, more dangerously, does great harm to the cause of justice.

The High Court will deliver its verdict on the death references and appeals in the sensational Biswajit Das murder case on August 6.
