The Bangladesh Bank has rejected Dutch-Bangla Bank’s proposal to purchase a Motijheel building for more than Tk 1,000 crore to use as its corporate headquarters, saying the price was significantly inflated and the deal posed a conflict of interest involving the bank chairman’s family.

Dutch-Bangla Bank, a listed lender in the country, has decided to buy a building for its headquarters  in Dhaka’s Motijheel at a cost of Tk 1,016 crore.

Islami Bank, already a leader in the sector, has been joined by BRAC Bank, City Bank, Pubali Bank, and Dutch-Bangla Bank in reaching the coveted Tk 2,000 crore milestone in operating profit.

Dutch-Bangla Bank Ltd (DBBL) is going to invest in a digital bank and form two subsidiaries in order to expand business in capital market, the bank said today.

They are Brac Bank, City, Dutch-Bangla, Eastern, NCC, Premier and Mercantile

No bank in Bangladesh has ever made so much profit in a year

Dutch-Bangla Bank Ltd posted an 11.80 per cent year-on-year increase in profit to Tk 125.24 crore in the first quarter of the current financial year.

The six banks are Standard Chartered Bangladesh, Brac Bank, Dutch-Bangla Bank, The City Bank, Southeast Bank and Prime Bank.
