Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina sends 20 kilograms of hilsa from the Padma river for West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who is going to take oath for the second term tomorrow.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has decided to strike hilsa off tomorrow's menu at her official residence, Gono Bhaban, in an effort to discourage people from having jatka (hilsa fry) on Pahela Baishakh.

A mobile court yesterday seized around 9.5 tonnes of jatka (hilsa fry less than 10 inches in length) worth Tk 2 crore from eight fish cold storages in Chittagong city.

Comes Pahela Baishakh, comes opportunity for hilsa hoarders.
