International Master (IM) Fahad Rahman secured his second Grandmaster (GM) norm on Wednesday after emerging champion in the FUBY Academy Norm Chess Tournament Series 3 Grandmaster event in Istanbul, Turkey.

Grandmaster Niaz Murshed became unbeaten champion in the 49th National Chess Championship with 10.5 points after beating FM Subroto Biswas in the final and 13th round, held at Level 4 of Youth Tower in Shewrapara, Dhaka yesterday.

Fahad's latest opponent had defeated reigning world champion Magnus Carlsen in 2022.

Fahad currently shares the third place alongside 13 players in the competition.
