Former Pakistan coach Jason Gillespie said Friday chairman of selectors Aaqib Javed needs to "look at himself in the mirror" with the national team "playing with fear".

The last time Bangladesh came close to following up a landmark away victory with a series win in a SENA country was in 2021/22, when they famously beat New Zealand in Mount Maunganui. An innings-and-117-run defeat in Christchurch followed inside three days. For many, it was simply Bangladesh reverting to type after producing something spectacular.

The Australian captain could not change the gulf between the two teams. He could, however, make sure Bangladesh knew that they had earned their place at the table.

While Gillespie has no appetite for the daily grind of international coaching, he hinted at an interest in working in T20 leagues.

Gillespie accused Javed of trying to secure the coaching role in all formats by working behind the scenes.

The 49-year-old Australian former fast bowler was appointed in April for two years but differences with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) took their toll.

"Aqib's first assignment as red-ball head coach will be the two-match test series against South Africa during the ongoing all-format tour," the PCB said in a statement.

In its latest disorganisation of events, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) are set to remove current national team head coach Jason Gillespie and replace the Australian with former Pakistan pacer Aqib Javed, ESPNcricinfo reported today.
