Bangladesh’s sugar imports fell sharply in fiscal year 2023-24 as refiners stayed away from placing orders to foreign buyers in the face of an illegal influx of the sweetener through the borders.

The commodities will be purchased for the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh

Bangladesh firm JMI Export Import Company Ltd has won a government contract to import 12,500 tonnes of sugar worth Tk 65.98 crore from Brazil and supply it to the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh.
