People living in climate-vulnerable areas urgently need government support

The rain induced by a depression continued to make people suffer across the country yesterday with many thoroughfares, roads and alleys going under knee-to-waist-deep water.

It is unacceptable that a capital city of a fast-growing nation should all but collapse with a few hours of rain due to water-logging.

In addition to water-logging on some key city roads, vehicles passing through Gulshan-1, Gulshan-2, Rampura, Badda and Baridhara remained stuck for hours as police cleared route for passage of the prime minister.

CHITTAGONG city, our second most important city, was practically flooded again after only an hour and a half of downpour on Monday.
