Salil Chowdhury—composer, lyricist, poet, playwright, and a staunch Leftist—was more than a musical genius. His influence spanned across music, literature, and activism, earning him universal acclaim. Even the legendary Jaikishen referred to him as “The Genius,” reflecting his unparalleled mastery over music and words.

In a recent media interview, describing the experience as the most traumatic of his life, Shekhar recalled, “The thought of a life without singing was terrifying. I suddenly had no voice, just air. It was deeply disturbing, and even now, the memory shakes me.”

This surge in costs followed threats and disruptions, including bomb plots at her concerts in Vienna, which raised the stakes for her safety. 

Today marks the 17th anniversary of Sanjeeb Chowdhury’s untimely death, a day etched in sorrow for the Bangladeshi music scene. On November 19, 2007, Sanjeeb left us, but his legacy continues to shape the cultural landscape.

Pakistani band Kaavish, renowned for their soulful tracks like “Bachpan” and “Tere Pyar Mein,” is set to make their debut performance in Dhaka. Known for blending semi-classical elements with contemporary music, the band enjoys immense popularity across Pakistan, India, and Bangladesh.  

This year's “Riyadh Season”, organised by Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Media, features artistes from nine countries, including Bangladesh, India, and Pakistan. The 45-day event, which began on October 12, will conclude on November 30.

A new reality talent show, “The Cage”, aims to elevate the rock band scene in Bangladesh. Launched to provide a platform for emerging rock bands, the competition is designed to showcase undiscovered musical talent from across the country.

“Cultural Fest 2.0,” a national youth talent competition is set to take place on November 15 at the Aloki Convention Centre in Gulshan in the capital. 

This additional concert follows previous shows announced in Mumbai at the DY Patil Sports Stadium on January 18, 19, and 21. This tour marks Coldplay's largest-ever stadium performance in India, expected to host 100,000 fans.
