President Fakhrul reaches Sylhet

President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir reached Sylhet today, marking his first visit to the district since taking office.

Fakhrul landed at Osmani International Airport at 11:27am and was received by Commerce Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir, Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Ariful Haque Chowdhury, lawmakers from Sylhet’s constituencies, and senior party and administration officials.

He left for Sylhet Circuit House by motorcade amid tight security around the airport.

Abdul Qayyum Chowdhury, Sylhet district unit BNP president and Sylhet City Corporation administrator; Emran Ahmed Chowdhury, the district unit’s general secretary and MP; Nasim Hossain, Sylhet metropolitan unit BNP president; and Emdad Hossain Chowdhury, the metropolitan unit’s general secretary, were also present.

According to his itinerary, the president is scheduled to receive a guard of honour at the Circuit House before leaving for the shrine of Hazrat Shahjalal (R).

He is then due to visit the shrine of Hazrat Shah Poran (R) before returning to the Circuit House for a brief rest.

In the afternoon, the president is scheduled to attend a civic reception at the Sylhet City Corporation complex, after which he will return to the Circuit House.

He is set to leave Osmani International Airport for Dhaka in the evening, with his arrival at Bangabhaban expected around 9:30pm.
