Former sports adviser Dr Asif Nazrul was perplexed as to why Bangladesh’s decision not to travel to India for the 2026 T20 World Cup had to be investigated and the findings published so long after the incident.

A three-member probe committee made its findings public on Tuesday after speaking to several experts, cricketers, journalists and BCB officials, with the accounts recorded in the report largely contradicting Nazrul’s later claim that the decision was a “sacrifice” jointly made by BCB officials and players.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Tuesday clarified remarks made by sports adviser Asif Nazrul, stating that the communication referenced by the adviser was an internal exchange between the BCB and the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) security department.
