BGMEA unveils BATEXPO 2026 logo, plans Hong Kong roadshow and Japan desk

The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) today unveiled the logo for the Bangladesh Apparel and Textile Exhibition (BATEXPO) 2026, alongside plans to hold a roadshow in Hong Kong.

Speaking at a press conference at the BGMEA office in Dhaka, the association president, Mahmud Hasan Khan, said the trade body will inaugurate a dedicated Japan desk at its office on September 23 to capture a larger share of the Japanese clothing market.

In addition, the trade body will hold the Bangladesh Apparel Roadshow 2026 in Hong Kong on October 28 to attract foreign and new garment buyers.

The announcements come as the BGMEA prepares to host BATEXPO 2026, following a 12-year hiatus, on November 18 and 19 this year at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre in Dhaka.

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is scheduled to open the exhibition, while President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir is scheduled to attend the closing ceremony.

Addressing broader industry concerns, the BGMEA president called for regulatory and infrastructure improvements to support operational efficiency across the sector.

He stressed the need to streamline trade documentation, noting that starting a business currently requires obtaining 21 licences, which causes significant delays.

To improve logistics, the BGMEA chief demanded a permanent and safe import cargo shed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport to safeguard incoming goods.

He also noted that the domestic garment industry has increasingly begun integrating artificial intelligence, primarily in the shipping of goods.
