Nevian signs Sandoz deal to widen medicine portfolio

Nevian Lifescience PLC, formerly Novartis Bangladesh Limited, has signed an agreement with Sandoz Pharmaceuticals, a Slovenia-based export-import company, to further strengthen its longstanding relationship with Swiss multinational Sandoz, the world’s leading generic pharmaceutical company.

The agreement with Sandoz marks another step in Nevian’s evolving international partnerships and will help broaden access in Bangladesh to high-quality finished pharmaceutical products from Sandoz, including complex generics that require specialised manufacturing capabilities.

Under the agreement, Nevian will import and distribute Sandoz medicines in Bangladesh, including selected difficult-to-make generics. Sandoz Pharmaceuticals serves as a key hub for the international business of Switzerland-headquartered Sandoz AG.

Nevian’s heritage in Bangladesh dates back to 1973, when the company began operations as Ciba-Geigy (Bangladesh) Limited, a joint venture with Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC), representing the Government of Bangladesh.

Following the global merger of Ciba and Sandoz, the company subsequently became Novartis (Bangladesh) Limited. In 2026, following the acquisition of a majority stake by Radiant Pharmaceuticals Limited, the company was renamed Nevian Lifescience PLC.
