Dhaka Bank gets ADB award for third consecutive year
Dhaka Bank PLC has received an award from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for the third consecutive year under its Trade and Supply Chain Finance Programme (TSCFP).
This year, the bank was named “Leading SME Trade Bank” for its role in facilitating international trade and expanding access to trade finance for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), according to a press release.
Akhlaqur Rahman, deputy managing director of Dhaka Bank, received the award from Steven Beck, ADB’s head of trade and supply chain finance, and Neha Noronha, unit head of South Asia, at the 12th TSCFP Awards and Partners Dinner in Singapore recently.
“This recognition is a proud moment for Dhaka Bank and a testament to our continued commitment to bridging trade finance gaps, empowering local businesses and enabling greater access to international markets,” Akhlaqur said.
He said the bank would continue working with global institutions such as ADB to create opportunities for businesses and contribute to Bangladesh’s sustainable economic progress.
Dhaka Bank has been an issuing bank under ADB’s TSCFP since 2009. Through the programme, the bank helps local businesses access international markets and facilitates cross-border trade.
ADB’s programme helps address gaps in trade finance, particularly for businesses in developing economies where commercial banks may not always be able to meet financing needs.
The latest award follows the bank’s recognition as “Leading Partner Bank” in Bangladesh in 2024 and its “Momentum Award” in 2025 under the ADB TSCFP Awards.
