Chirkutt, F Minor and Bangla Five to perform at ‘River Rocks Season 2’

The concert will take place today at Aloki, Dhaka, on the closing day of the two-day conference “Kallolini: A River Dialogue 2026”, which focuses on Bangladesh’s rivers, river-based realities and collective efforts for a sustainable future.

The River Rocks initiative was launched in 2022 by Chirkutt frontwoman Sumi to promote awareness about rivers and climate change. As part of the initiative, seven bands created songs inspired by seven rivers of Bangladesh — Padma, Buriganga, Kushiyara, Pashur, Chitra, Dahuk and Sangu — followed by several concerts.

Announcing their participation in “River Rocks Season 2”, F Minor and Bangla Five wrote on Facebook, “We are children of rivers. Rivers are our life, our nature and an inseparable part of our existence. Our settlements, culture and stories have grown around rivers. Therefore, we have a great responsibility towards them.”

They added that the River Rocks campaign was started in 2022 to bring together rivers, nature and music while spreading messages of love and awareness for rivers.

Speaking about the event, Chirkutt’s Sumi said, “River Rocks is returning again, organised by the Embassy of Switzerland in Bangladesh. The children of rivers are returning to the river through words, songs, thoughtful ideas and awareness in the magical city.”

The concert will also mark Bangla Five’s return to the stage after a long break. The band had been inactive due to health issues involving drummer Adnan Rushdi and guitarists Rafin and Anik.

In a Facebook post, Bangla Five said Rushdi’s heart condition has improved and he will return to the stage with the band. Bassist Rafin is also returning after recovering from a motorcycle accident that kept him bedridden for four months, while guitarist Anik had been resting after breaking his leg.

However, the band said they will not perform their heavy metal tracks for now. Instead, they will present softer and blues-inspired songs.

“The River Rocks Season 2” concert is open only to participants registered online. The event will begin at 6:00pm.
