Day-long art camp celebrates Nazrul’s life and legacy in Mymensingh

A day-long art camp titled "Nazrul Through Artists' Brushes" (Shilpir Tulite Nazrul) was held on Thursday at the District Shilpakala Academy premises in Mymensingh, bringing together 21 renowned artists to celebrate the life and legacy of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam.

Organised by the Shilpakala Academy as part of the "Nazrul Year" celebrations, the camp saw artists from Mymensingh and different parts of the country interpret the poet's life, philosophy, literary works and ideals through their paintings.

Throughout the day, the participating artists worked on their canvases, drawing inspiration from Nazrul's creative legacy and his enduring ideals.

The organisers said a special exhibition featuring the artworks created during the camp will be held at a later date, allowing members of the public and art enthusiasts to view the works.

Officials of the Shilpakala Academy said the initiative aimed to introduce Nazrul's creative life to the younger generation from fresh artistic perspectives, while also creating an opportunity for cultural exchange by bringing prominent artists together on a single platform.

Among the participating artists were Rashed Sukhan, Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts at Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University; Nagarbasi Barman, Associate Professor at the same faculty; Gobinda Roy, Principal of Dhaka Art College; visual artist Mintu Dey; Samir Kumar Bairagi, Director of Charukanon, Narail; Didarul Hossain Limon, Assistant Professor at Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University; and artists Tapash Majumder, Nazmul Rahat and Mukul Dutta.

Also taking part were Babul Hossain Sohag from Munshiganj; Gautam Kumar Debnath, Instructor at District Shilpakala Academy, Mymensingh; and artist Biswajit Karmakar Topu, Vice-President of Mymensingh Bibhagiyo Charushilpi Parishad.
