Veteran theatre troupe Palakar is mounting its much-praised production of Rabindranath Tagore’s “Dakghar” once more — and celebrating the play’s 100th staging with three performances this week.

The Zainul Gallery at the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Dhaka, inaugurated a solo art exhibition titled “Poetry of Time” featuring works of artist Samina Zaman on Thursday, October 9, at 11:30 am.

In what is now regarded as the deadliest zone for journalists, nearly 300 journalists and media workers have been killed since October 7, Bangladeshi writer and photojournalist Shahidul Alam and activist-health expert Ruhi Akhter set sail with the flotilla to deliver aid to the Gaza Strip. Abu Saleh Titu’s fourth solo exhibition will commence from October 9 to 11 at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel.

Founded in 1975, Chattogram-based theatre troupe Gonayon Natyosomproday has completed 50 years of its journey. To mark the golden jubilee, the troupe will host a seven-day theatre festival titled Gonayon Natyoutshob, beginning on October 10 at the District Shilpakala Academy in Chattogram.

This year’s festival is part of a broader effort by the Ministry of Cultural Affairs to celebrate major religious and cultural occasions.

Alongside their performance, the troupe will also take part in a series of workshops designed to foster cultural exchange, dialogue, and collaboration among emerging Asian artists, creating opportunities for new creative connections.

The story draws from the Sufi philosopher’s reflections on death, his burial wishes made at the request of Konya’s ruler, Muinuddin Shah Parwana, and the epitaphs written to mourn him.

For the first time, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy is hosting the two-day “Sharadiya Cultural Festival 2025,” which begins today (September 30) and will continue through Wednesday (October 1).
