‘Off Campus’ star Ella Bright joins Sony’s ‘Narcs’

Actor Ella Bright, known for Prime Video’s romantic drama series “Off Campus,” has landed her first major studio film role. She will star opposite Mason Thames in Sony Pictures’ upcoming coming-of-age comedy “Narcs.”

The film will mark the directorial debut of John Phillips, writer of R-rated comedies including “No Hard Feelings”, “Good Boys” and “Dirty Grandpa”. The plot details of Narcs are being kept under wraps.

The screenplay was written by Jordan and Justin Shipley, creators of the TBS comedy series “Wrecked”, with rewrites by Phillips and his frequent collaborator Gene Stupnitsky.

Stupnitsky will produce the project through Big Name Entertainment, with Robert Lamonaca serving as executive producer. Phillips and Joseph Micucci are also attached as producers.

Bright has emerged as a rising talent following the success of “Off Campus”, an adaptation of Elle Kennedy’s book series. The Prime Video series attracted 36 million viewers worldwide within its first 12 days, becoming the streamer’s third most-watched series debut after “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” and “Fallout”.

The actress stars opposite Belmont Cameli in the series, who is also gaining attention after being cast alongside Sydney Sweeney in Sony’s upcoming adaptation “Hollow”.

Before “Off Campus”, Bright portrayed a young Kate Middleton in Netflix’s “The Crown” and starred in the historical drama series “Malory Towers”. She will next appear in the true-story wrestling drama “Gable,” alongside Finn Cole and Ben Foster.

Meanwhile, Off Campus has already been renewed for a second season ahead of its premiere, continuing its success with audiences drawn to its mix of sports and romance.
