Samsung held the largest share of the global smartphone market in the first half of 2026, as rising memory and component costs put pressure on manufacturers and contributed to a broader decline in shipments.

Counterpoint Research's latest market data show that Samsung accounted for 21.8 percent of global smartphone shipments in the first half of the year, narrowly ahead of Apple at 20.9 percent. Samsung also held 23 percent of the market in the second quarter, according to the research firm.

Xiaomi held 11.4 percent, followed by Oppo, including its Realme and OnePlus sub-brands, at 10.3 percent. Vivo accounted for 7.6 percent, while other manufacturers collectively made up the remaining 28.1 percent of the market, according to Counterpoint’s H1 2026 report.

Global smartphone shipments fell 7 percent year on year (YoY) in the second quarter, according to Counterpoint.
