Japan-Bangladesh Chamber gets new office bearers

The Japan-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JBCCI) has elected Kazuiki Kataoka, country representative of the JETRO Dhaka office, as its president for a two-year term (2026-28).

The election was held on September 13 and 23, respectively, according to a press release issued by the chamber yesterday.

Kazuiki served as joint secretary general of the outgoing board.

Rabiul Alam, managing director of MKK Logistics, has been elected secretary general. He served as a director on the 2024-26 board and was also secretary general of the Nordic Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Kenji Kimura, chief representative of MUFG Bank’s Dhaka office, has been elected treasurer. He was also a director on the previous board.

Abu Zaman Md Tariqul Islam, managing director of Yusen Logistics (Bangladesh), has been elected vice-president 1, while Syed Samiul Huq, director of Japan Solartech Bangladesh, will serve as vice-president 2.

Oliver Kutz, managing director of JT International Bangladesh Ltd, and Saumitra Kumar Mutsuddi, head of corporate affairs at BSRM Ltd, were elected joint secretary general and joint treasurer, respectively.

Tareq Rafi Bhuiyan (Jun), Hiroaki Oura, Kabir Ahmed, Atsushi Hirakuri, AKM Ahmedul Islam Babu, Kenichiro Kawamoto, Farzanah Chowdhury, Hironori Yamanaka and Mudassir Murtaza Moin were elected to the 16-member board of directors.
