IUB honours 210 O and A level achievers in Chattogram

Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) honoured 210 high-achieving students in Chattogram for their outstanding performance in the O and A level examinations under the Cambridge and Edexcel curricula. The award ceremony was held on September 16, 2026, at the auditorium of the Chattogram Centre of the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB).

IUB Vice-Chancellor Prof. M Tamim attended the event as the chief guest. Among the special guests were Dr K Ayaz Rabbani, Dean, School of Environment and Life Sciences, IUB; Asif Parvez, Registrar, IUB; urban planner Engr Delwar Hossain Majumder; Prof. Dr Adnan Mannan of the Department of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, University of Chittagong; and Babar Ali, the first person from Chattogram to summit Mount Everest.

Lima Choudhury, Director of Admissions, Financial Aid and International Relations, IUB; Priyanka Dey, Deputy Director; Md Fuad Hossain, Outreach Officer; and Masud Bakul, Managing Director, Whiz Communications, also addressed the programme. Kazi Arfat, Director (Admin & Planning), Whiz Communications, delivered the welcome remarks.

The programme featured cultural performances highlighting the heritage of Chattogram, followed by the presentation of awards to the students. A magic show by Rajib Basak and a musical performance by singer Shantanu Dutta added to the celebrations. The event was organised with overall management support from Whiz Communications.
