‘Continuum’ showcases 60 artworks by three artists to Bhumi Gallery
A group exhibition titled “Continuum”, featuring 60 artworks by three artists, has opened at Bhumi Gallery in Lalmatia, Dhaka.
The exhibition brings together the works of Siddharth Talukdar, Karu Titas and Nazmul Haque Bappy, exploring the connection between visible reality and the artists’ inner experiences through colour, form and expression.
The exhibition was inaugurated on Saturday. Artist and Emeritus Professor Hashem Khan attended the opening as the chief guest, while architect Mustapha Khalid Palash was present as the special guest. Bhumi Gallery founder Saifur Rahman Lenin also attended the event. Siddharth Talukdar spoke on behalf of the participating artists. He said, “Imagination is more important than just academics. It is necessary to find yourself by being aware of your surroundings.”
The displayed works reflect diverse approaches to colour, texture and composition. One painting creates an atmosphere of boats and aquatic life against a deep blue backdrop, while other works capture abstract interpretations of nature through shades of grey, blue, white and yellow.
Several nature-inspired paintings feature light filtering through dense green foliage, tree trunks, branches and variations in the texture of the earth. The exhibition includes works created using oil paint, acrylic, watercolour and mixed media.
The word “continuum” refers to an uninterrupted flow or continuity. According to the organisers, the exhibition highlights the importance of continuing creative practices at a time marked by uncertainty, declining human values and social and ethical challenges.
“Art is not only a medium of aesthetic expression; it is also a powerful way to preserve empathy, critical thinking and cultural continuity,” the organisers said.
“Continuum” will remain open to visitors until September 25. The exhibition can be visited daily from 3pm to 8pm.
