Three of a family found dead at home

Bodies of three members of a family, including an 18-month-old child, were recovered from their home at Barahi Jannakandi village in Manikganj Sadar upazila yesterday at noon.

The deceased were identified as Ekram Molla, 40, his wife Priyanka, and their daughter Alija.

Locals said Ekram was an expatriate who had recently returned to the country.

According to initial police reports, Ekram’s body was found hanging from a ceiling fan with a scarf, while the bodies of his wife and daughter were found inside the room with injury marks.

Moharam Ali, additional superintendent of police of the district, said police suspect Ekram killed his wife and daughter by striking them on the head before hanging himself.

“The matter is still under investigation, and the exact cause of death will be confirmed upon receiving the autopsy report,” ASP Ali added.

Police recovered the bodies and sent them to Manikganj Medical College Hospital for autopsies. Preparations are underway to file a case in this connection.
